Taylor, Mich. – Site-specific theater company, Shakespeare in Detroit, will begin its third season with "Julius Caesar", presented by Wayne County Community College District's Heinz C. Prechter Educational and Performing Arts Center. The show is directed by Adam Miller-Batteau.

This will mark the company's first performance outside of the city, which is an exciting moment for the company.

"It's really thrilling to be able to spread our artistic footprint in the Downriver area," said Shakespeare in Detroit founder, Sam White, who is also producing the show. "Art is supposed to connect communities and it's a beautiful thing for us to be able to do that with one of The Bard's most epic tragedies."

"Julius Caesar" will be the start of one of the company's most experimental seasons to date.
"We are so excited for our third season – an incredible mix of the traditional with the unconventional," said White. "We are excited to kick things off with a beautiful, traditional performance of "Julius Caesar" in the gorgeous, state-of-the-art proscenium theater at Heinz C. Prechter Educational and Performing Arts Center."

The cast of "Julius Caesar" includes Dennis Kleinsmith in the title role, Barbie Weisserman as Brutus, Morgan Breon as Antony and Peter Knox as Cassius. The incredible ensemble of players is rounded out by Vanessa Sawson, Phil Rice, Eric Eilersen, Ryan Ernst, Allyson Smith, Dominique Lowell, Meredith Deighton, Kelly Rose Voigt and David Galido.

"We are fortunate to have some of the best actors in the area onboard for this show," said White. "This phenomenal cast is rehearsing what I believe will be a really wonderful production, with one of my favorite and most innovate directors, Adam Miller-Batteau, at the helm."

Emily Pierce is the production's stage manager with Amy Schneider as the lighting designer, Christina Tomlinson as the costume designer and D.B. Schroeder as the set designer. Meagen Mazur is leading the company's marketing efforts with Christine Pellecchia as the production administrator.

There are only two performances of Shakespeare in Detroit's "Julius Caesar" on Friday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 5 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance via the Shakespeare in Detroit website.
