Be a Literacy Hero!    Would you like to volunteer your time to share books with children in various venues around Holland like the Holland Rescue Mission? Literacy Heroes help young readers with reading comprehension, instill a love of books and reading, give one-on-one attention to children who often don't get much attention, and help develop the youth of our community.  To register for the training please contact Eileen Jenkins in the main library children's department at 616-355-3729 or e-mail your registration to holej@herrickdl.org.    Monday, September 24 Wednesday, September 26 1:00 - 2:30pm Children's Activity Room, Upper Level, Main Library Advance registration requested, both sessions required for training program  Native Plants    Learn the basics of using native plants in your yard from Vern Stephens, owner of Designs by Nature. This event is geared toward non-techies.
