Hot Read of the Month

Fifty Shades of Grey

by E.L. James

Reviewed by Duffield Branch Librarian Patricia Hurst

50 shades
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L .James, one of the hottest reads of the season, takes readers along on the romantic journey of the young graduate student, Anastasia Steele and her rich, secretive, brooding, non-committal love interest Christian Grey.

If you don't mind a female lead character

on the naive side and your love scenes explicit, then this book is for you. Fifty Shades of Grey is a light, entertaining, page-turning summer read.

In the book, Ana falls in love with Grey, a man with a mysterious past and certain sexual proclivities that she is uncertain she can handle. Fifty Shades of Grey asks the age ole romance story question of whether a good girl can tame her bad boy or learn to live with his ways; although, admittedly Grey's bad boy ways add a decided twist to the typical romance.

The good news is that if you don't get enough of Grey and Ana in this book, it is just the first installment of a trilogy. The saga continues in the second book of the series, Fifty Shades Darker, followed up by the finale Fifty Shades Freed.
