Beyond Books Newsletter Novi Public Library June 2012 Dear Syl, IgeekScrapbooking! I love to scrapbook!  I enjoy this hobby because I don't consider myself a very crafty person and yet when I am working with stickers, colored paper, and photos of my family I can tell a wonderful story!  Usually I take part in a scrapbooking event where I meet with girlfriends and work on my projects for hours at a time.  Scrapbooking also pushes me to be an avid photographer in my home, capturing the precious memories of my children.  In fact, I bought a new camera just for this purpose.  Recently, I tried online scrapbooking and found it to be just as much fun!   This year, I encourage everyone in the Novi community to think about what they GEEK and share your "loves" with the Library!    Sincerely, Julie Farkas Director What Do YOU Geek? New and Improved Website! The Library is thrilled to launch our redesigned website this month!  Designed to be easier to navigate, more informative, and patron focused, we hope everyone in the community will find it an even more valueable resource!  Tell us what you think! Dream Big at the Library! This year's Summer Reading Games for youth, teens, and adults are bigger and better than ever!  Beginning Monday, June 18 and continuing until Saturday, August 4, you can register fo the games online or at the Library.  Track your time spent reading, earn prizes, and attend fun programs!  Thanks to the Friends of the Novi Public Library for their ongoing support of the Library's Summer Reading programs.  Teen Flyer  Youth Flyer Happy Birthday Novi Library! Celebrate the Library's second anniversary in its new facility on June 1 with a special birthday themed Story Time.  Our sincere thank you to our community for your support in reaching this milestone!    DIGITALBookmobile @  NPL! ...June 20 from 10am-4pm.  This high-tech update on the traditional bookmobile must be seen to be believed!  Try the hands-on learning stations to search digital media collections, use supported mobile devices, and download eBooks, music, and more!  Learn More  Read and Be Well Come checkout the newest additions to our Read and Be Well collection this month.  The books in this collection were created and donated by students from the Novi Community School District.  What Can the Novi Library Do for YOU? June 1st celebrates the 2nd year of operation for the new Library! In an effort to keep the Library moving forward with valuable services, programs and resources, a strategic planning committee has been formed to create a five year plan for the Library. As community members, your input is very important to us! Members of the Novi community are invited to attend a focus group session to provide feedback on how the Library can better serve YOU! Focus Group Sessions at the Novi Public Library Monday, June 25th at 12:00pm Monday, June 25th at 7:00pm Saturday, June 30th at 10:00am Why Do I Need to Renew My Library Card Each Year? The annual renewal is essential in keeping accurate records for Library patrons.  It is important to be able to contact our patrons regarding renewals and the status of their accounts.  To do so, we must have up to date information, such as current e-mail addresses.  Also, we need to insure that patrons who have an account with the Library are entitled to that account, based on residency in Novi.  We are working hard to make this process as effective and convenient as possible and appreciate your understanding.
