Summer Reading Kicks Off June 8    
 
Summer Reading 2012Summer is the perfect time for families to read together; it's a great activity for ALL ages, and it helps schoolchildren keep up their reading skills so they can start the next school year ready to learn!

Parents of preschoolers (and babies, too) can join in the reading fun! Research has shown that young children whose parents read aloud to them have better language and
literacy skills when they go to school.

We're celebrating dreams and the night at our crafty-crazy Kickoff! Personalize a dream catcher, create shooting stars
and make your own animals of the night. Discover your inner rock "star" at our  Karaoke station! Bounce to the sky in our
bounce house!

Baffling Bill Magic Show!
Friday, June 8 | 2-3pm | McKune Room
Drop-in | All ages
Astounding magic, audience participation, balloon sculptures, live animals and non-stop fun make this the perfect show
for a summer afternoon. Join Baffling Bill  the Magician and his bunny Gus, as they perform amazing feats of magic! 
 
Adults- sign up for Adult Summer Reading at the kickoff or at the 2nd level information desk on June 8 or anytime after.

Artist in Residence Reception

 

Sharad PatelJoin us to welcome our 2012 Artist in Residence, filmmaker Sharad Kant Patel to the community and enjoy a special screening of his short films. We will also recognize the work of our outgoing 2011 Artist in Residence, Jerzy Drozd.

New Library Board Trustee

 

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Sensoli to our Library Board of Trustees. 

 

Elizabeth is a long time resident of Chelsea. She is married to Dr. Tony Sensoli and together they have four sons who are aged 16, 18, 20, and 22. Elizabeth is a graduate of the University of Michigan with an MBA and Master of Architecture. Her background in fundraising for several local community organizations, including the Chelsea Community Hospital, Emerson School, and Chelsea Music Boosters provides valuable experience to the board and library. 

 

Elizabeth also served on the Lima Township Planning Commission for 14 years and spent several years working as a financial analyst for the Staubach Company.

 

Elizabeth is a well respected leader in the community, a strong advocate and supporter of the library, and we are extremely fortunate to have her on our board.

Closings
 
The  library will be closed Sunday, May 27 due to system maintenance and Monday, May 28 in observance of Memorial Day. We will re-open Tuesday, May 29 at 10am.
