It's a sad day for music. Adam Yauch of the pioneering hip-hop group the Beastie Boys passed away today at 47. Soundcheck carved time out of today's show to remember the rapper known as MCA and Ann Delisi will pay tribute to him on Saturday's Essential Music.

The state will close a seven-mile stretch of I-96 between Telegraph and Newburgh. That's the bad news. The good news is that it won't happen for two more years.
