An exciting opportunity for our most loyal readers, the Dzanc Books eBook Club delivers a new eBook to its members on the first day of every month, with each selection coming from Dzanc and all of its imprints. In response to the proliferation of compatible devices and increased interest in eBook readings, Dzanc is committed to making it easier and less expensive for our readers to keep up on the newest releases from our catalog, and to delivering our titles in different formats for different kinds of readers.
Started in December 2010, selections so far have included acclaimed novels and short story collections by Robert Lopez, Roy Kesey, Stacey Levine, and Jeff Kass. Future books will be drawn from both our frontlist and the Dzanc Reprint Series, allowing us to deliver a wide variety of accomplished and emerging writers to our members.
Like all our eBooks, titles in the Dzanc eBook Club are delivered in DRM-free MOBI, ePub, and PDF formats, ensuring that club members will be able to enjoy it on their Kindle, iPad, Nook, Sony Reader, or whatever other platform they choose to use, as well as their PC and whatever newer devices might emerge in the near future.
The Dzanc eBook Club is one of the best ways to stay current with our newest books, and we truly believe it is the best value available to eBook writers anywhere. With subscriptions costing just five dollars per month or sixty dollars per year, members receive a 37% discount off the eBook list price of our selections, on top of knowing that they'll receive many of our new titles as soon as they're released, in the format best matching their choice of reading technology.
If you have any questions or concerns, please free feel to email Matt Bell at email@example.com.
How It Works
Option One: Get eleven books for $50, including five titles immediately upon signing up, plus a six-month subscription! This is a 43% savings compared to the cost of ordering the eleven titles individually in eBook form.
Upon signing up for the Dzanc eBooks Club, you will instantly be able to ask for any five titles we have in eBook form--this includes Dzanc titles, our rEprint titles, and any of our imprint titles. The files will be emailed to you within 24 hours of your signing up.
You will also receive the current month's selection within 48 hours. Then, on the first of each of the next five months, you will receive an email announcement containing a unique link, allowing you to immediately download and enjoy the month's book.
After the sixth month, members will be able to continue your subscription for just $5 per month, a savings of nearly 40% from the Dzanc eBooks cover price.
Option Two: If you already have some of the above bundled eBooks, you may also sign up for the eBook Club directly, starting with the current month's book, which will be delivered within 48 hours:
$15: three-month subscription
$30: six-month subscription
$55: one-year subscription (includes one free month!)
On the first of each month, you will receive an email announcement containing a unique link, allowing you to immediately download and enjoy the month's book. With this option, you will be automatically resubscribed for the same period when you current subscription ends, unless you cancel through your Paypal account.
Hope you are all well and are enjoying Short Story Month 2012.
Much going on with Dzanc as always, read on to learn of that please. We've launched our four latest rEprint titles from award-winning author Merrill Joan Gerber. We also have a Kickstarter Fundraiser Project in progress (details below).
Dzanc Publishes First Four eBooks by Merrill Joan Gerber
Merrill Joan Gerber is exactly the type of author we had in mind when we created the Dzanc Books rEprint Series. One of our goals with the series is to bring back great works of literature in eBook format and find a new readership and discussion for these works and authors. Merrill Joan Gerber's outstanding body of work deserves the attention that the eBook format will offer her.
Gerber has published over a dozen critically acclaimed books. She's frequently had her writing compared to greats such as Bellow and Roth. She's had stories selected for both the Best American Short Story series and the O.Henry Prize anthology series. She's had a novel win a Pushcart Editors' Book Award and another receive the Ribalow Award from Hadassah Magazine for the "best English-language book on a Jewish theme." The L.A. Times listed her Anna in the Afterlife as a Best Novel of 2002. Cynthia Ozick has called Merrill Joan Gerber "one of the masters."
Today Dzanc Books publishes the first four of sixteen eBooks of Merrill Joan Gerber's writings, all sixteen of which will available by the end of June 2012:
Anna in Chains
Anna in the Afterlife
The Kingdom of Brooklyn
This is a Voice from Your Past
All four of these titles are available from Dzanc's website for the low price of $20 for a limited time: http://www.dzancbooks.org/merrill-joan-gerber-reprint/ and they will also soon be available from Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, and all other retail outlets where eBooks can be purchased. We do hope that you'll help spread the word about this fantastic author's work coming back into availability.
Kickstarter Project Ends This Week
In line with the above, Dzanc has had a fundraising project accepted by Kickstarter--and it is specifically about our rEprint series and we need to raise the last $1500 by Saturday or we do not receive any of what has been pledged so far.
Earlier this week we added some special new rewards such as lunches, drinks, conversations, etc with numerous Dzanc authors.
A bit from the About page of the Kickstarter Page:
As part of our mission to publish great works of literary fiction and nonfiction, Dzanc Books has expanded its publishing to include eBooks. Working with a great staff and distribution, Dzanc has created its rEprint series, the first of its kind, specifically dedicated to bringing back in eBook form works of deserving authors. Included in our current and forthcoming list of some 350 titles are Stephen Dixon, Michael Martone, Jonathan Baumbach, Joseph McElroy, Merrrill Joan Gerber, Charles Johnson, Stephen Graham Jones and National Book Award winner Ellen Gilchrist. Dzanc provides all authors with a generous 50% royalty. It is Dzanc's plan to increase our eBook list to over 1000 titles in 2012 for readers to enjoy.
The process to convert these out of print titles is both time consuming and costly with Dzanc Books spending over $250 per title prior to their being available to readers. Raising the $3500 through this Kickstarter Project will help us offset costs and allow us to bring more books into the rEprint Series and at a more rapid pace.
We'd appreciate any donations, any spreading of the word via emails, Facebook, Twitter, etc., and thank you in advance for the help.
