Get Versed 2012 will last just one hour from 5:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m. We're working hard to make sure every minute is hassle-free and high-energy. See you at the show. For directions to the DFT, please follow the link.
A few lucky Get Versed ticket holders will win one of IO's 2012 student literary journals. Since 1995, IO has published a journal for each school it serves. This year's batch includes a total of 28 titles exquisitely designed and on their way to our offices. To register, be sure to fill out a green registration form in the lobby before the show.
Sitting Snares by Jean DuBuffet.
Art All Around
While Get Versed trains a well-deserved spotlight on students bravely performing original poetry, spoken word and dance pieces, IO is proud to have our students share the stage with select pieces from the Detroit Institute of Art's collection.
Students will perform amid a beautiful backdrop of art by the likes of famed Detroit painter and 2008 Kresge Eminent Artist, Charles McGee, photographer Edward West and French Painter Jean DuBuffet. Hope you enjoy the art all around you as much as the show. To learn more about how art from the DIA has inspired student writers, please read a recent HuffPost Detroit blog by IO founder Terry Blackhawk.
