by Walt Shiel

Once a Knight coverThe Military Writers Society of America announced the 2011 book awards last week, in conjunction with the MWSA 2011 Annual Conference. My World War I historical novel Once A Knight earned a Bronze Medal in the Historical Fiction (Event) category. From the MWSA website:

We are an association of more than eight-hundred authors, poets, and artists, drawn together by the common bond of military service.

It is particularly gratifying to receive recognition from such an illustrious group of fellow writers.

MWSA President Joyce Faulkner, herself an accomplished author, has posted the various award winners on a set of Amazon Listmania lists, including the Bronze Medalists.

T-41 Mescalero coverIn addition, the book I co-authored with Jan Forsgren and Mike Little — T-41 Mescalero: The Military Cessna 172 — received an Honorable Mention in the Nonfiction History category.

You can view the complete list of award winners by downloading the PDF file from the MWSA website.
